Launched in 2001, the .NAME generic extension is the sole TLD meant for personal websites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to order john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered 3rd-level domains remained running.

You will have the opportunity to alter the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an active domain to our firm if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization code from the present domain service provider and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no specific requirements on who can get a dot NAME domain name, but in order to keep the goal behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
